The Eurowagon made first step to diversify its new fleet.

Since November, we are the owner of 50 new wagons – open box wagons of regular design for the transport of heavy non-moisture-sensitive bulk materials. The wagons were produced by Greenbrier Europe in Świdnica. A characteristic feature of the wagons is a modern and light structure, which is designed to adjust the length and its own wagon. Below are the basic measurements of the coal wagons:

  • Length over buffers: 11 300 mm
  • Load volume: 57,3 m³
  • Tare weight: 18,0 t
  • Loading weight on D class – 72,0 t

New open wagons are more than 12% shorter than other wagons of this type (length only 11300 mm). It allows to form train sets consisting of 50 wagons (the standard number of wagons per train is 40) within the standard-length limits on PKP PLK network lines. As a result, the loading capacity of trains increases by 26% on C class track, limiting the transportation costs. Of course, on D class benefits are even higher.

All wagons have already been leased to one of Polish private rail operators.
